Antique Monitor Trunk
Working Lock - Tray
Guthrie Trunk Store - Louisville
Circa 1895
SOLD

This monitor trunk measures a nice size 32"L X 24"H X 19"W and comes from the later 1800 to very
early 1900's. It was sold from Guthries Trunk Store which was in Louisville. Guthries began just after
the civil war and starting making a very high quality trunk on their own. Over time, they established
themselves as a popular retail location and began offering goods from other makers as well. I
expect this is one of them so maker probably not know. Nice to know where it came from just the
same. The trunk has some beautiful pine wood with oak slats, each being with very nice tone. The
metal trim is dark brown which is older paint. It was placed under a protective finish to lend a hand
keeping this with antique character and looks nice. Latches work fine and the lock comes with a
working key.

The inside is lightly finished wood much like the outside. It will come with a new tray and is perfectly
suited for storage as you wish.
