Antique Barrel Stave Trunk
Tray - Original Lithograph
Civil War Era
SOLD

A circa 1860's or Civil War era trunk which is adorned with metal strapping, decorative buttons and
its original oak handles. This trunk measures 31"L X 21"H X 16"W and given it is almost 150 years
old, it is a good guess it has graced the back of a wagon or top of a stagecoach. All strapping,
buttons and hinges are original as are the handle holders and brass lock cover. The lock
components are there but it is not functional. Not too uncommon for this type as it locked without
the key often causing someone grief when the key went missing.

The interior is finished wood with lid compartment and a large original lithograph of a beautiful lady.
It was customary with the early trunk lithographs to be of things that would remind the traveler of
home or something symbolic of the times, if not both. A new tray will be included.
