Antique Vintage Automobile Trunk
Steel Construction - Nickel Plated Hardware
For Unknown Make
SOLD

This steel automobile trunk measures 36.125"L X 17.5"H X 15.5"W and I believe is quite an early one
although what it fits and the exact dates I do not know. 1920 +/- 10 years is a good guess. Some
were built with flush backs while others had a slight forward angle. This one has the slight lean, so
in a pinch, could be used to fit either applications I believe.

The steel is in great shape and just some minor surface rust and dings when found. No rust holes
or heavy pitting. It is not perfect and I did not try to make it that way. As was common, they were
typically painted a couple times and I made no great attempt to feather the layers of paint. However,
it is clean and fresh and solid. This trunk did have a wood bottom that was cracked and weak. I have
replaced it with another and painted to match the rest of the trunk. It is inside the bottom metal lip
and not visible. Latches work great and the nickel plate is fair to worn with some of the underlying
brass bleeding through but not bad. Original piano type hinge is in perfect working order.

Solid antique automobile trunk and a very early metal framed foil reflector has been mounted on the
front. A nice quirky touch I suppose and there when found.

On a few of the photo's, it sort of appears as if the top is dented. That is not the case at all and just a
reflection of a building. If you need to see another photo of it, just let me know.
