Rustic Old Trunk
Oak Handles - Working Padlock W/2 Keys
Circa 1880's
SOLD

A standard dome trunk from the 1880's to about 1890. It measures 29.5"L X 20"H X 17.5"W so more
in the stagecoach trunk size from a little earlier. When found, I knew it was never going to be a world
beater so just went with a clean but rustic sort of look. The wood has a nice tone to it and for the
metal, which had been painted brown, I just sort of swirled it around a bit to produce variations in
color that keep with the old look. No lock was on this trunk so a working padlock was installed and
comes with 2 keys. The original latches are present and work just fine. The handles on this trunk are
the original oak handles. Of note is that there are some cracks, small holes toward the bottom.
Looks like from a kick of getting tossed around somewhere down the past road. Instead of trying to
match up a repair, I just went with them and they are in character.

The inside is finished wood in the same manner as the outside. Nice natural coloring.

Great rustic piece that is not perfect but ready for use and very suitable for storage or even holding
a couple logs by the fireplace. Displays nicely.
