Antique Brass Buttoned Stagecoach Trunk
Working Key
Circa 1860's
SOLD

This antique stagecoach trunk is right at 150 years old. It is adorned with steel banding which is
secured with brass capped wood button topped nails.  An extra touch is there are tiny brass capped
nails securing the banding around the top lip as well. All brass has just been cleaned up a bit and is
not painted. The lock is very nice being solid brass with a key cover in the shape of a leaf and 13
stars on the circle that the leaf stems from. Push the leaf to the side and a key hole is revealed.  A
working key is included. It is a good solid trunk with the only real thing worth noting is that it was
re-hinged before I received it. Apparently the lid fell back somewhere down the road and took a
chunk of wood on the back lip by one of the hinges so they just moved the hinges over an inch or
two. It is very secure and they operate perfectly. This trunks measurements are 30.5"L X 19"H X
18.5"W

The inside is currently finished wood and there are no issues. It would not be too much of a task to
recover in a material and that is open for discussion or easily done at your home.

The bottom is in wonderful refinished shape and new stitched triple thick flared end handles have
been installed. This trunk was given two coats of a pure wood oil and then finished with an oil
varnish mix. Should age gracefully.

The photo's were taken outside. Inside as the sun starts to settle down the beautiful wood tone of
this trunk really becomes apparent.  I believe you will catch yourself staring at it every now and
again, I have been anyway.
