A pretty nice looking dome top trunk from the 1880's. This trunk measures a good size 34.5"L X
29"H X 21.5"W. The height of the dome makes this a good size antique trunk. The construction of
this trunk is very good with thicker than usual timbers and barrel construction top. It is extremely
solid and should breeze through a few more generations. It is not a perfect trunk in that when
received someone had put newer hinges on it and latches from the 1920-1930's. My first thought
was to swap these out but they are quite secure and not too distracting so have been left and I'll
keep the hardware for the next trunk in need. There is an abundance of decorative hardware which
is quite ornate and heavy cast metal. The original wheels are intact and made into hardware in the
same manner as that which is pictured below. The bottom is in super shape. On the front is a darker
spot which is a knot hole with the knot still intact. There are no holes in this trunk.
The interior is exposed wood in the same manner as the exterior wood. Everything, inside and out,
has been sanded and treated with a moderate gloss finish.
