|Vintage Steamer Size Wardrobe Trunk w/Keys
Hartmann - Maker
A pretty nifty Hartmann wardrobe trunk complete with inside and outside keys. This trunk
measures 40"H X 15"L X 21.5"W standing up or 40"L X 15"H X 21.5"L lying down as a coffee table.
It has been freshly painted brown and a good thick finish applied should you wish to use as a
coffee table. The hardware retains some of the original brass plating but there was some surface
rust and it was cleaned up for that naturally aged look. The hardware is under finish as well. The
trim is a nice darker yellow with normal scuffing. It was not something I could really get into without
losing the yellow but it goes well with the general look. Everything is complete including the
working Hartmann keys and it opens and closes just fine. It still has a Souther Pacific railroad tag
attached to the handle from its traveling days. The tag is in great shape and it is a good solid built
The inside is in wonderful condition with drape hiding the original hangers on one side and a
drawer and drop down compartments on the other. On the hanger side, the cushioned top lifts and
the hanger bar slides forward for easy access. Since this is a narrow trunk that the larger
wardrobes with traditional drawers, there are some nifty drop down compartments instead other
than the small top drawer. The material is pretty close to perfect and while hard to see in the
photographs, much of it is textured in a quality looking manner. All snaps, hinges, and just
everything is in wonderful, crisp, shape. I believe you will be amazed at the interior in person and
the interior key is included as well.
Established in 1877, Hartmann continues its operations of providing quality luggage that is built to
last. A fun fact is that James Bond 007 went with Hartmann Luggage in "Live and Let Die".
