Antique Stagecoach Trunk
Circa 1858
SOLD
A metal banded stagecoach trunk that would date to the later 1850's to early 1860's. This trunk
measures 27"L X 14.75"H X 14"W, and displays in an endearing fashion. It has its bumps and
bruises and not all the tarnish was removed from its brass capped buttons and brass lock cover
with a nice acorn design, but it manages a nice look in spite of those things. This style lock had an
arrow shaped top section that would lock automatically when closed. Often these take another fork
in the road through the years for that reason and that is the case here. It does nothing to distract
from the trunks appearance is it was mounted on the inside lip behind the banding and you could
not see it anyway. The remaining bottom lock section is intact. The trunks bottom is super solid and
retains its wood slats which are in great shape. On the top in the middle, there is a very small
knothole. Sort of looks like it belongs there. The stitched leather handles are new and of the nice
flared end style.

The inside is finished wood similar to the outside and suitable for storage.
