A very nice antique trunk from the 1880's that has the desirable barrel stave constructed top.  It
measures a good size 34.5"L X 28.5"H X 21.5"W which is a tall trunk and not easily overlooked in a
room.  The wood coloring is natural and carefully sanded to insure its aged color was not lost. In
some of the pictures taken outside, it lit up a bit but in person (or inside), it is a warmer (more
brownish) color with the top being a little lighter such as aged tulip or basswood and the bottom
half heading towards a browner natural cherry color.  Between each of the wood slats, on the metal
panels, are nails forming the shape of a cross  (20+ of them). The hardware is heavy duty steel held
secure by steel capped nails and the handles have flared ends. The finish is a moderate gloss.

The inside is exposed wood as well and the dome resembles the inside of a whisky or wine barrel if
that helps. The wood is nice and clean and finished. When I received this trunk, the original inside
was already pretty much stripped, including the original tray. I will include a nice new tray of pine
and birch shown below. Leather lift tabs have since been added to the tray.

Not a small antique trunk I believe you will find to be quite beautiful in person.
