People wish to have antique trunks restored or refinished for many different reasons.  Some
because it is a family treasure or perhaps because they are simply beautiful antiques. They are
perfect for storing those special little things that come into our lives such as "kid pictures", baby
items, first baseball hat, military items, or most any sentimental item or collectible you wish. Just
open it up and set something in now and again.  Your antique trunk will one day hold a reflection of
life lived and your decision to restore and use your antique trunk regarded as a most wise and
thoughtful gesture.
I do my best to provide your family such a heirloom trunk.

Our Antique Trunk Restoration Service

1. To get an estimate for a trunk restoration is a pretty straightforward thing. Pictures which are emailed or
regular mailed are helpful as are the trunks dimensions and general idea of what you may have in mind. It is
always good to know about hidden damage up front so that we can provide a quote that holds firm. We just
want enough information to know the work involved the same as you would. If you are not sure what you want
done with the trunk, we can discuss some options once I can see the trunk in question. Once I know what is
involved, I provide you the quote. Unless you failed to mention that the bottom and half the side was rotted out,
the quote should hold firm. No other charges other than the cost of getting it here and back home again.

2. Some people are very busy and elect to just send the trunk sight unseen. That's fine if it has normal wear but
if there are 10 coats of lead paint on it and half the trunk is missing, we might have a problem. When it arrives I
provide the quote and we discuss the trunk before I begin. We tend to be very fair and reasonable. If you have
a wardrobe trunk, these can be quite labor intensive and we probably should see these up front. Some are not
bad, others a bit tricky.

3. At Eagle Trunk Designs, we try to apply a common sense approach to restoring or refinishing your antique
trunk. It is not an exact science as no two are exactly alike. To this I believe you will find that we offer a wide
variety of restoration and refinishing methods to handle what your antique trunk presents us.  It is our sole goal
to return you something especially nice.

4. We are located in Kentucky for those that would consider shipping their trunk. For others, we are located
just a few minutes off Interstate 65.

5. I typically ask for a $200 deposit with the trunk. This can be mailed or billed for online payment. I'm pretty
flexible in this regard so if we need to work out payments, just let me know.

6. All but two antique trunks (original examples) shown on this website were restored or refinished at Eagle
Trunk Designs. I invite you to browse around to see a small fraction of our work and hope that you find it with
character. As always, we look forward to assisting with yours.

The circa 1914 Indestructo trunk (below) was
restored to travel 22,000 miles in the New York
To Paris World Race 2011. It is currently
scheduled to ride on the 1929 Ford Speedster
of Crabtree Racing under a custom cover. With
ties to the historic automotive Great Race of
1908, we are thankful for the opportunity to
play a small part.

Antique trunks and chests of all styles and in various aged conditions and disrepair stop
in for restoration. I show some of the more unique ones but the standard tattered or rusty
antique trunk is our bread and butter and of course we do those as well. I try to take in
consideration such things as historical correctness, the trunks history, budget, specific
requests, and owners personal style.  Not every trunk is of a unique rare design or a
national treasure. However, we understand it may carry priceless memories from the past,
and working together, into the future.

We do our best to provide quality information and services related to every antique trunk
restoration. Your questions, comments, or concerns are always welcome.
