Vintage Dome Top Trunk
Circa 1920
Restoration For Our Friend Phil
Completed - Sept. 2008
Phil sent the above picture of a small dome top trunk that belonged to his grandmother. The trunk
was in terrific shape all things considered. However, a little sprucing up, it was felt, would make it
more appropriate to be enjoyed in the home. The request was to keep with the original nature on the
outside as much as possible and reline the interior with a fabric and provide a cedar tray. The
original inside paper was in fair shape but it had apparently been loaded with mothballs and the
smell was pretty intense.
With the outside looking pretty snazzy, the inside was lined in a patterned muslin material and a
cedar tray built as requested.
The lock was then fitted with a key to complete this restoration.

Thanks Phil for the opportunity and for your patience as the work was completed.
