Antique Trunk History
Original Trunk Lithographs
A wide variety of pictures or lithographs can be found decorating the inside of antique trunks. The subject of these
lithographs vary greatly from scenes to remind the traveler of loved ones, to sentiment of political or other world events,
to favorite past times, and really just about anything it seems. I have seen examples from as early as the 1850's myself
but perhaps they predate that. In the 1870's they became more common and the practice continued perhaps as late as
1920 or so. The workmanship put into these reflections of their time are quite good and they are always enjoyable to
see. Being quite old, their condition often varies, still I thought you may enjoy seeing a few.
